HVAC costs — guidance, not a quote

HVAC work is priced after an on-site look at the system, access and parts. These factors move the cost up or down.

What drives the cost

  • System type: central AC, furnace, boiler, heat pump, package unit or split system.
  • Urgency: emergency after-hours versus scheduled daytime service.
  • Access: rooftops, attics, crawl spaces, tight condenser clearances and multi-storey plant.
  • Parts: compressors, motors, boards, refrigerant circuit work and thermostats.
  • Age and condition of the equipment and whether repair or replacement is discussed.
  • Ductwork or airflow issues that sit alongside the equipment repair.
  • Permits or gas-safety rules when required by local regulations.

Insurance

Storm or hail damage to outdoor units may be claimable; wear-and-tear usually is not. Whether and how much your insurer pays depends on the contract. Photograph damage if safe and request a written scope before work begins.

Why there is no price list here

Two jobs that look similar on paper can need very different parts and access, so any fixed price would be guesswork. Official energy-efficiency guidance is linked below.
